MY SWATT DOGS -ALANO  ADVENTURE pt1

  • After a few weeks of waiting i finally set of on the long drive down to Swatt Dogs HQ to pick up my Tia x Ethic puppy. upon arrival i was greeted by Ben and the dogs and his son, i felt very welcome there and had a great discussion about dogs and such. we talked a little about the pups before we went to see them. we then proceeded to get the bite suit out and get me ready to go for my first encounter with his boy and my pups dad Swatt Dogs Vengo Ethic. What can i say this dog has a look that could kill, he immediatley puts you on edge with a look, once fired up this dog had bad intentions in his eyes and all he wanted to do was deal with the current situation, ie me! he was a real powerful dog with tremendous strength. once we were finished and ethic had defeated me, we moved on to Tia and Caldera. What can i say about these two. wow!!! they came out ready to work, they were different to when we had been greeted, they knew what was about to happen and clearly happy about it. the powerful girls edged ever so closer to me with the look in there eyes like they were not about to let me get away. the main thing that impressed me with the team of the two girls was how well they worked together, they proceeded to take hold of me and almost wrestle me to the ground. i was shocked at the will and effort these two girls put in. once all the excitement was over and the ben told them i was ok they were lovely to be around. very friendly. i sat and stroked them and felt very comfortable. Then came the pups. wow what a lovely bunch of pups, immediatley rushed over to say hello. by this point all the pups were out with the 2 adult females and ben got the flirtpole out, all the dogs came to life again including the pups. all rushing to get the rag. i saw great potential in all the pups, to my amazement the pups were already showing great hunting instincts and trying to intercept the prey instead of just mindlessly chasing it. once we had seen all the pups and parents we put them bk into the spaceous kennel for a sleep. we returned to the house where we carried on the talk about dogs and such, ben explained everything i needed to know and answered all my questions perfectly. I then got my picture taken with my pup before we said goodbye. we have had our girl a few weeks now and she has come on leaps and bounds. bonded with me straight away, really loving, and such drive in her.She settled in smoothly with my american bulldog Nate and my young 18month old step daughter. i couldnt have hoped for better. i cant thank ben enough for all his support after we left and the best puppy ive had the pleasure of owning. you will always be a member of our pack Ben. great man and great dogs. thankyou so much.

ALANO OWNER MONTHLY WRITE UP

MY 3 GIRLS. PART 1. MAGA.
Lota Bobrova

I came across the Spanish Alano breed 6 years ago when living in Spain. And there
began this neverending (I hope) story…
We (me and my husband Alfonso) find ourselves driving to a remote Spanish village.
All we can see through fog is hunting properties. Mobile service unavailable…Roberto told us to ask anyone for “a dude who has many dogs” when we reach the village. The old man smiles and indicates the right house telling us we better hurry ‘cause it’s almost cattle feeding time and Roberto will probably be gone. When we reach the house first thing we see are the dogs…Lots of them! Hunting dogs – Alanos, Podencos, Villanos and their mixes. The woman who meets us says her sons are crazy about dogs and go searching good hunting dogs all over Spain and Portugal. Then we meet Roberto
– suntanned, rustic, not very talkative but very pleasant guy – avid hunter and cattle
breeder. He seems surprised to see us looking for a puppy in the “middle of nowhere”,
then he takes us to the inner yard where we see pigs, cows and dogs together in a perfect
harmony. The litter’s father looks very serious. He seems to be the leader – very well
balanced, self-confident, cinnamon-colored, middle-sized male. The female Lola is pure
energy! Running around and barking, with such a beautiful athletic structure! We are
there for a female so we have to make a choice of 3 of them. I pay attention to a black
puppy who seems to be more curious, more dynamic, more brave than her sisters.
We called her Maga (“magician” in Spanish). She’s 5 years old now but she is the one
who’s ALWAYS ready to play, ready to do all kind of activities. Always so alert to
everything that happens around, with a high hunting drive, due to her lighter building
capable of running very fast! She’s a leader in the pack. Though she’s not a typical Alano
we see nowadays (she also has her ears cropped incorrectly which gives her head some extra length), she comes from 100% working dogs and she has the superb breed features that can be seen in her behavior. She is dominant but NEVER aggressive without a
serious reason, very enthusiastic for new experiences, absolutely controllable, protective and very expressive! I’m sure, she starts talking really soon, lol! She gets along well with all dogs – males and females. The first time Maga saw a boar she had 3 years and the first hold she made was in the ear – precisely as in a surgery room, without shaking her head, without aggression, just holding there…
Maga made us fall in love with Alanos completely and when we moved to Lithuania we decided to have another one as soon as possible…
